Men’s Football:

Minor Team:

The Michael Cooney & Sons Ltd sponsored minor team finished off the year in fine fashion with a hard fought win over Roscommon Gaels in the division 2 minor championship final played on Saturday evening last in Knockcrogery. The team won the toss and opted to play with the wind in the first half. Both teams settled well but the elements ensured that scores where hard to fine, Western Gaels went in at the break 2-01 to 0-1. The opening period of the second half was the turning point of the game Western Gaels played their best football in this period and took control of the game all over the field through their hard work and team spirit, they led well going into the final quarter but Roscommon Gaels never gave up and fought their way back with two well taken goals and some fine points. Western Gaels weathered the storm and worked hard to get the insurance score.

Final Score Western Gaels 4-04 Roscommon Gaels 2-06. See inside for full match report.
