Ladies Football

Intermediate Ladies Team

The Kilrane O’Callaghan & Co. sponsored intermediate ladies team played Kilglass Gaels in round 3 of the championship on Thursday evening last in Frenchpark. The team got off to a great start with a few early scores but Kilglaas were the stronger in the opening half and lead by 6 points at the break. The team dug in and worked hard in the second half and managed to reel in Kilglass and take the lead in the last quarter, the closing minutes were very close with both teams exchanging score but the girls managed to hold on to the lead and secured the win by the narrowest of margins.

Final score Western Gaels 3-12 Kilglass Gaels 2-14. The team play Shannon Gaels in the next round of the championship.

Roscommon County Ladies U-16 team

The club would like the wish Shannon Dowd and all the players and management of the county u-16 ladies team the best of luck for their all Ireland final on Wednesday.

Men’s Football

Senior Team

The Senior team were well beaten in the Div 1 league by Elphin on Saturday evening last in Frenchpark. Despite a good start from Western Gaels where we led by 6pts to 4 after the opening 20 mins, Elphin dominated the remaining period and 4 unanswered points left them 8pts to 6 ahead at the interval. Elphin maintained their lead throughout the 2nd half and killed off the game with a goal with 15 mins remaining. Final Scoreline Western Gaels 0-11 Elphin 1-16. 

Next game is against St.Brigids in the Senior championship in 2 weeks time.

Junior Team

The Junior team play St.Barrys in the Div 3 league in Frenchpark on Friday evening next. Check fixtures for confirmed time etc.

Minor Team

The Michael Cooney & Sons Ltd sponsored minor team had a hard fought win over St. Aidan’s on Wednesday evening last in round 3 of the championship. Final score Western Gaels 4-10 St. Aidan’s 3-09.
