The Club Rossie draw for 2015 takes place at the end of May. Now is a great time to renew your Club Rossie membership or purchase a new membership for 2015. We are seeking the same level of support from our club members who purchased various levels of membership in 2014. Tickets are now available from all club executive members and if you are purchasing online please ensure you place Western Gaels as your nominated club in order for the club to get the full benefit from your membership.

 

Roscommon County Team

Best of luck to our Senior county team on their trip to London next weekend and to our Western Gaels reps and all our supporters that are making the journey.

 

Underage Presentation Night

Thanks to all the parents and club members that attended our underage presentation night in Into the West on Friday night last. Thanks to Brian and Joan for the meals provided for all involved and to Helen Hession for representing the County Minor board.

Thanks to Martina, Jenny, Finbarr, Cathal, Ciaran and Donal for been present to present the medals and awards on the night. It is much appreciated by the club.

 

Code Of Ethics Course

The club is running a Code of Ethics and Child Protection course on Saturday 23th May at 4pm in the clubhouse in Frenchpark. All coaches who are currently involved with underage teams are requested to attend along with all the coaches who completed the foundation level course last year.

Coaching Mornings

The coaching mornings for all U-10 & U-8, boys and girls continues next Saturday 23th  May 2015 between 10:30 and 12:00 we would encourage all under 8 and 10 new and existing players to come along and have fun while learning the skills of the game.

 

Club Registration:

Team managements and players are reminded that club membership is now overdue at should be paid before any games and training sessions take place. Please ensure you have your membership paid as you will not be covered under the player injury insurance scheme if you have not registered on the system.

 

Ladies Football

Adult Ladies Team

The Kilrane O’Callaghan & Co sponsored adult ladies team finished our their league campaign in fine form with a well-deserved win over St. Brigid’s in Kiltoom on Sunday morning, the girls played against the win in the first half and went in at the break trailing by one point. Mid-way through the second half the girls pushed ahead and held the lead until the final whistle.

Final score Western Gaels 2-10 St. Brigid’s 1-08.

 

Men’s Football

Junior Team

The Junior team commenced their championship campaign on Saturday evening last with an away trip to Creggs. Despite a spirited performance Creggs were the stronger team and goals proved the difference on the day with Creggs getting 3 of them in the 2nd half to win out on a final scoreline of Western Gaels 1-07 Creggs 4-06.

U-16 Team

The Michael Cooney & Sons Ltd sponsored U-16 played  Clan na nGeal on Sunday morning last in round 1 of this year’s championship, both teams were equally matched in the opening half but Clan’s strength in the second half ensured that they secured the win.
