Minor Team

The Michael Cooney & Sons Ltd sponsored minor team had a busy week, on Monday evening they travelled to Boyle to take on the home side in the division 3 league 3rd 4th place play off. The team were slow to start and Boyle had the better of the opening half and were 9 points up at the break. The lads came on strong in the second half and it didn’t take them long to cut Boyle’s lead. The sides exchanged scores in the closing period and the game finished level and went to extra time but still the sides could not be separated. On Friday evening Boyle came to Frenchpark for round two of the encounter, both teams were up for the game and this ensured a good game was on the cards, Boyle again had the upper hand in the opening half but Western Gaels took the lead midway through the second half. Boyle got the vital score in the closing minutes to secure the win. Final score Western Gaels 1=21, Boyle 5-12.
