Western Gaels GAA Club re-launch/going weekly of our club lotto is fully up and running with local sales teams are out and about calling to all houses in the club catchment are. Its just 2 weeks to go now to the new draw format which starts on the 22nd March 2015 so be sure and get your tickets purchased in advance to be in with a chance of winning some of the promotional cash prizes below.

  • Annual Ticket with 3 lines for weekly draw = €100 (True Cost = €300)
  • Direct Debit as low as €8.50 per month over the course of the year
  • Special One off Prize Draw for all new annual ticket sales  who purchase their ticket ahead of the 22nd March deadline;
    • 1st Prize = €1000
    • 2nd Prize = €500
    • 3rd Prize = €250

New Club Website:

Our website has undergone a revamp over the last 2 months and was launched on Monday last week. New features include a club shopping function for all our club merchandise and our club lotto can be purchased through paypal online also. It will also be fully compatible with all mobile devices with new fixtures calendar for all your upcoming fixtures in both mens and ladies codes. check it out on

Club Registration:
The Club’s reminds all players and team managements that players who are playing and training currently that have not registered are not covered under the GAA player insurance scheme. Please ensure you are registered before continuing to play or train.
Registration rates for 2015 were set at the recent AGM at the following levels:
Adult Players over 18 in Both Ladies and Men’s Codes: €100
Family Membership: €100
Single Underage Playing Member: €50
Adult Non playing Member:€50

The club have a wide range of club merchandise gear available for all our players and supporters in the run up to the new season commencing over the next few weeks. Ladies Football:

U-16 Ladies Team:

The U-16 girls travelled to Strokestown to play the home side in round two of the championship. Both sides played well in the first half and were equally matched, in the second half Western Gaels got the vital scores to give them the upper hand. Final score Western Gaels 6-08 Strokestown 2-07.

The girls play Roscommon Gaels next Sunday in round 3 of the championship. Please support on the day.

Men’s Football:

Junior Team:

The junior team played their 2nd game in the Div 3 league on Friday night last when we faced St.Brigids in Kiltoom. The 1st half was pretty even with both sides trading scores but Brigids were stronger team in the 2nd half and got the match winning goal mid way through the half to win the game on a final scoreline of Western Gales 0-07 St.Brigids 1-11.

Minor Team:

The Michael Cooney & Sons Ltd sponsored minor team played St. Aidan’s on Sunday morning last in Ballinameen. Final score Western Gaels 2-10 St. Aidan’s 2-12. The team is back in action on Sunday next in round 4 of the league at home when they take on St. Ronan’s. Check fixtures for confirmed details.
